Here is Ole's very first underwater swim at five months old. Isn't it amazing to see how content he is under the water?

Fun in the water and on land
I've really enjoyed enrolling Ole in swimming lessons. It's great to watch him grow more comfortable in the water. Ole's favorite part is definitely the noodles. There's even a catchy song to go along:
Then on to Cafe Sip-n-Play. It's a cafe in east Vancouver dedicated to parents with kids under five. There's a huge play area for kids and a little space for babies. They have good food and drinks and a comfortable environment. I'm well on my way to becoming a regular--I went for the first time on Monday and have been back three times already!
He loves the crazy mirror.
Now home for a long nap!
Motorboat, motorboat, go so slow
Motorboat, motorboat, go so fast
Motorboat, motorboat, step on the gas!

Doggy doldrums
Poor Pepper has been pushed aside of late. The cold and windy weather has meant less time playing outside, and taking care of the baby has meant less petting and attention for Pepper. She's also a bit of a stinker, and I mean that literally, so she's sent to pout in her chair a lot. But there is a glimmer of hope! She plopped down beside Ole yesterday and he gave her a pat, pat, pat--a first of many pets by her future best friend.
Pat, pat, pat good dog. |

Getting crafty
I haven't done much sewing lately; the nesting urge that drives so many women to sew and make quilts in pregnancy never hit me. This recent bout of rainy weather has inspired me, though, so I unfolded the sewing machine and got started today. I wanted to start with something simple, so I'm crafting a pair of baby yoga pants for Ole from an old t-shirt (I love reusing old stuff!). I used another pair of his pants as a guide.
Alex had better lock his t-shirt drawer or I will raid it to sew pants of every color.
It's a super quick project--no hand stitching, no pinning or ironing, no hemming even. The seam ripper only made one brief appearance. Oopsie! They're coming together now, just need to slide the elastic through the waistband.
An old-fashioned diaper pin does the trick. So, Ole, what do you think of your new pants? He likes them!Alex had better lock his t-shirt drawer or I will raid it to sew pants of every color.

Lazy Saturday
The ice has melted, but we're enjoying a lazy day at home. We spread out a big blanket in the living room, sit Ole up and surround him with toys. He gives each one a good play and drops it when he spots another.
