Surrounded by toys

We set Ole up for some naked playtime in the master bath while we assembled our new bed.  King size, yeah!

Getting crafty

I haven't done much sewing lately; the nesting urge that drives so many women to sew and make quilts in pregnancy never hit me.  This recent bout of rainy weather has inspired me, though, so I unfolded the sewing machine and got started today.  I wanted to start with something simple, so I'm crafting a pair of baby yoga pants for Ole from an old t-shirt (I love reusing old stuff!).  I used another pair of his pants as a guide.
It's a super quick project--no hand stitching, no pinning or ironing, no hemming even.  The seam ripper only made one brief appearance.  Oopsie!  They're coming together now, just need to slide the elastic through the waistband.
An old-fashioned diaper pin does the trick.
So, Ole, what do you think of your new pants?  He likes them!
Alex had better lock his t-shirt drawer or I will raid it to sew pants of every color.

Lazy Saturday

The ice has melted, but we're enjoying a lazy day at home.  We spread out a big blanket in the living room, sit Ole up and surround him with toys.  He gives each one a good play and drops it when he spots another.

Has the mail arrived?

Probably not, since the mailbox is frozen shut.
An ice storm hit One Point Seven this afternoon and encased everything in ice.  Even though it's kind of beautiful, I cringe every time a chunk of ice hits the roof.  Can I have my slushy snow back?

Ah, slush!

My wish came true, I just forgot to be more specific.  Last night I woke up at 1am to various beeping noises around the house.  The power was flickering in and out and it set off the oven and the carbon monoxide detector, so we got up to unplug things.  Then I looked outside and saw a snowy wonderland.  Four inches of fluffy snow!  The snow gave everything a bright glow.  When we stepped outside, though, it felt suspiciously warm.  And rainy.  Boo!  By morning, the trees had lost their frosty caps, and we were left with four inches of slush.

Just a couple of days ago we were marveling at how green it all was--the mossy trees and ferns--as we hiked along Lacamas Creek.

Brrrr!

We've got a possible maybe chance of snow in the forecast, and it's getting cold here.  Pepper and I walked the loop in the wind, admired the frozen waterfall on Crown Point, and watched the sun set down the river.

Mingling with the goats

After an afternoon walk down Marble Road, we hung out in the yard with the goats a while.
Milton and Ole check each other out.

Milton works on cleaning out my flower bed.
